Our animals are like our children….they are all so different and we love them for different reasons…and most importantly, they make us happy! This is my Daisy! She makes me laugh everyday! Look at how she sleeps…totally content! We call her “Crazy Daisy” not because she is dumb or stupid….quite the contrary…she is very smart! We call her this only because she literally beats to a different drummer! I have two maltese dogs from the same parents but two different litters. Lily is the oldest and Daisy is the youngest. Lily is calm, sweet, doesn’t bark much…and takes life in stride. Daisy, on the other hand, is feisty, playful, funny, and barks at anything and everything…unbelievable! I believe this portrait captures her essence totally! She always makes me smile!!
Then there is Lily! She makes me smile because she is just so darn cute! She sits at my feet and looks at me with this puzzled look…tilts her head back and forth….trying to figure it all out! As if to say “What? Huh?”
Well…that is not all…we have a cat too! Here is MochaLatte who was adopted into our family two years ago after a tragic loss of a motherless kitten we found in our backyard. My son was devastated and just had to save another homeless kitten. Mocha enters our fun life….
He is so funny and the sweetest cat we have ever had! Like Daisy, he likes to talk…and talk….and talk…never stops! He eats all day long and chases lizards, frogs, snakes, and not to mention birds….you name it, he chases it….and catches them. Not to hurt them, but to play with them! He learned to use the dog door…mainly to come inside. He just looks at the door when he wants to go out….sits by it and cries…until we let him out! Therefore, he loves to bring in all these creatures to show me and to play with them…but very quickly loses interest when he sees me standing on a chair screaming! Our life has never been the same since Mocha entered into our world. I just had to paint his pet portrait to try and capture his wackiness! This portrait came from a picture that shows how his eyes get when he is ready for action…..
We also have four fish in our pond…but I am not even going to go there! Consequently, our animal pets make us laugh and smile. They are our family for way too short of a time…and this is why I paint pet portraits…just like our children, we want to remember them in a certain way that makes us happy and makes us smile. Until next time…go hug your furry family members!
