WHY ART IS IMPORTANT FOR KIDS!
A Grandmother’s Perspective!
Valentine’s Day is such a great time to spend with your family and especially with your children and grandchildren. I had the opportunity to spend a day with my granddaughter Madyson yesterday. She is nine and is becoming quite the little artist. We have just started a bit of a tradition that when a holiday or special occasion comes up, that she and I would get together for a day of art.
We do art projects for the holiday and in doing so, I am teaching her art techniques as I encourage her to express herself through her imagination.
Mady’s Art Activity for her Class
Mady spent time on making heart butterflies using clothespins and felt hearts. You can find lots of easy holiday activities for kids on Pinterest.com. It is user friendly and Mady had a good time browsing ideas for her to make for her class at school. The heart butterflies turned our wonderful.
Art Loft Mantra
Everyone who enters the Art Loft are asked to stop and read my mantra before entering. It is such a good thing to remember and to remind ourselves as often as possible. Mady helped me pick it out and hang at the entrance.
I would love to hear your thoughts and comments. Please leave me a comment at the bottom of this page and become a Disqus member. Happy Valentine’s Day!!
